The reality of how Biometric enrolment works
Does the system actually take a full image of the fingerprint?
The short answer is NO a full fingerprint image is not recorded.
In Australia the only people who can take a complete fingerprint image are Police and authorities given permission by the government. This means that our equipment never stores an image of the fingerprint.
Instead it uses a mathematical algorithm to turn certain points in the fingerprints into codes and these codes are then used to match and confirm that it is the correct person clocking in / out. The algorythm means that even if the data was to be obtained it could never be turned back into a fingerprint but instead would only relate to certain points on a finger which is only good for use on the device it was enrolled and not to create a fingerprint image.
How does Fingertec check the Biometric data?
Minutiae matching technique is used in FingerTec® technology. The algorithm takes advantages of the minutiae points. This makes FingerTec® very efficient at dealing with large database, even fingerprints of low quality.
